Curriculum de Luís Cruz Guerreiro
Luís Cruz Guerreiro começou pela Banda Desenhada. O gosto pela 9ª Arte induziu-o a procurar criar as suas próprias histórias; o projecto não correspondeu às suas expectativas, embora não esteja de todo abandonado.
As suas primeiras BDs, HQs, do “PutoZé”,
personagem cómico-trágica inspirada no Zé Mocho, um rapaz que viveu miseravelmente em Alhos Vedros e que infelizmente já morreu, chegaram a ser expostas e ganharam inclusive uma menção honrosa no Festival de Banda Desenhada na Amora em 1984.
Em 1985 tirou um curso de pintura cerâmica no CENCAL (Caldas da Rainha)
As várias técnicas de pintura aprendidas nesse Centro de Formação, serviram como elo de ligação entre a arte que praticava, (a BD) e a cerâmica (a arte do fogo). Os azulejos eram o suporte técnico que fazia a ligação entre as duas artes.
Acabado o curso, foi seleccionado para trabalhar numa fábrica de cerâmica das Caldas da Rainha, mas devido a problemas constantes no pagamento de ordenados, mudou-se para o “Argila Atelier”.
Apresentou os dois primeiros painéis que fiz nos fins-de-semana e horas livres na fábrica—Regiões de Portugal—e em finais de 86 passei a integrar o Argila Atelier, onde, durante dois anos, pintei vários painéis de azulejos dos quais destacamos As Quatro Estações, além de ter participado em diversas exposições, das quais destacamos a Exposição Temática sobre o Alto Minho, na Bienal de Artes/87, em Vila Nova de Cerveira (Portugal). Ainda nas Caldas da Rainha, Luís, aproveita as férias de Verão de 1988 para fazer um conjunto de painéis cuja temática era o Concelho da Moita e faz em Setembro de 1989 a sua primeira exposição individual no Posto de Turismo da Moita, que na altura foi um sucesso, pois vendeu quase todos os painéis e conseguiu uma encomenda que durou até 2004, com a Tertúlia Tauromáquica Setubalense.
Tendo a sorte de encontrar um espaço apropriado para o seu tipo de trabalho, começou um negócio por conta própria em Alhos Vedros, sua terra Natal.
Em princípios de 89, fundou a Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro; participou em feiras de Artesanato por todo o Portugal, em 1994 criou duas linhas de azulejaria distintas:
- A Linha Clássica (em azul e branco e policromia, com motivos tradicionais); é por definição a grande razão de existência da AAG e a sua única fonte de rendimentos, diz o Azulejista que, até agora a aceitação da inovação no Azulejo ainda tem um longo caminho a percorrer, mas está certo que com novos clientes de gerações mais novas as encomendas de painéis de cariz “Moderno” vão também , tornar-se rentáveis, assim a condição económica do País evolua.
Desde a sua fundação até hoje, a Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro produziu centenas de painéis em todos os formatos, em azul e branco e policromados, espalhados por toda a Europa, Estados Unidos e Brasil.
- A Linha Livre (que expressa outras técnicas e dá-me toda a liberdade de criação dentro da azulejaria), é nesta linha que voltou às suas origens, criando uma história de Ficção Cientifica em painéis de azulejos a cores “As Aventuras de Jerílio no séc. 25”, que são a síntese destas duas Artes que se juntam para criar uma nova expressão artística conjugando os conhecimentos técnicos da Azulejaria Artística, com os seus vidrados óxidos e corantes feitos especialmente por Luís Cruz Guerreiro para se atingirem as mais brilhantes cores e a narrativa da BD, com os seus planos, enquadramentos e textos.
Em 2005, Alhos Vedros, através da Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro, conseguiu entrar finalmente nas Rotas da Cerâmica. Este projeto durou de 2003 até 2015 e pretendia criar uma Rota Nacional de Fábricas e Oficinas de Cerâmica em Portugal, em que a Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro esteve presente.
Este era um projeto de turismo Cultural, que tinha divulgação internacional e que fez com que excursões de turistas, vocacionados para um turismo de conhecimento sobre as Artes Cerâmicas de todos os tipos, fossem convidados a passar nas Oficinas, Ateliers Fábricas e Museus que estão relacionados com as Artes do Fogo em todo o País.
A Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro foi integrada nesse projecto pela qualidade do seu trabalho e também pelo respeito que tem pelas técnicas do Azulejo Tradicional Português.
Só os Ateliers e Fábricas de grande qualidade entram neste projecto, como é o caso das Porcelanas Vista Alegre, ou das Faianças Artísticas Bordallo Pinheiro por exemplo. Terminou sem brilho, mas é uma ideia que deveria de ser retomada.
A Oficina de Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro foi reconhecida em 24/02/2006, pelo PPART, Programa para a Promoção dos Ofícios e das Microempresas Artesanais, que em 2015 acabou e foi substituído pelo CEARTE, que continuou a dar à Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro o estatuto de Unidade Produtiva Artesanal: https://www.cearte.pt/custompage/gpaoregisto.html
O Artesão, Luís Cruz Guerreiro, foi também reconhecido pelo PPART, recebendo o cartão de Artesão, por esse organismo estatal.

1998-A página ESCUDO, boletim oficial da AAG é publicado na internet.

O ESCUDO vai voltar para uma edição comemorativa dos 30 anos da AAG, mantendo o mesmo aspecto retro, bem pixelizado, de 1998 e continuará apenas publicando os Melhores Painéis do ano desde 1986 até agora, o Editorial e a Breve História do Azulejo.
1998-Coleção de cromos (Imagens de azulejos pintados à mão), publicados no jornal “O RIO”.
O Eng. Brito Apolónia apoiou este projeto e tudo fizemos para que fosse um sucesso, que o foi.
Um dos grandes amigos pessoais e da AAG, foi desde que começou o jornal o RIO em 1997 foi este senhor, a quem muito agradeço por tudo e que na fase mais difícil da AAG, a ajudou e fez sobreviver.
Foi a partir da sua edição #10 que começou a publicar os cromos "Imagens do Concelho da Moita" na última página para recortar e colecionar, essa coleção durou 24 edições.
O jornal "O RIO" publicou entre 15 de Abril de 1998 a 1 de Maio de 1999 uma coleção de 24 Cromos.
(Imagens do Concelho da Moita) que foram feitos em azulejo e editados quinzenalmente, durante um ano por Luís Cruz Guerreiro. "O RIO" publicou também uma caderneta para colecionar os cromos no início da coleção e duas edições com a coleção completa, sendo a 2ª edição exclusivamente feita para a mostra dos painéis de azulejo no certame "Artes e Ofícios" que se realizou entre 26 de Novembro a 1 de Dezembro de 1999 no Pavilhão de Exposições da Moita.
2000-Em Agosto, fez a sua primeira Exposição em Brasília, em que apresentou apenas Azulejaria da Linha “Livre” e teve um óptimo acolhimento dos visitantes e também da crítica de Jornais de Brasília como o “Correio Braziliense” e ” Jornal de Brasília”
2001-Inauguração dos Arquivos Guerreiro.
Com apoio dos meus pais, Júlia Maria da Cruz e Francisco Guerreiro e da minha esposa Tina Sesinando e colaboração do jornal O RIO que publicou notícia de uma página e publicidade gratuita, os Arquivos Guerreiro inauguram em 12 janeiro de 2001.
O Eng.º Brito Apolónia sempre colaborou com os projetos da AAG e apoiou muito a abertura duma galeria de Arte em Alhos Vedros.
Esta galeria durou até 2006, quando se tornou apenas uma mostra de azulejaria da AAG. Em 2014 tornou-se necessária a mudança física da Oficina, do nº 6, para o nº4, onde ficavam os Arquivos Guerreiro. Foi um processo moroso e dispendioso, que só se concluiu totalmente em finais de 2015.
Agora é aí a Oficina, que está muito bonita. A Oficina ficou muito mais agradável para trabalhar e receber os clientes.
A Qualidade vai manter-se inalterável e a AAG continua apenas a fazer pintura manual.
2005-A Presidente da Junta de Freguesia de Alhos Vedros, Fernanda Gaspar convidou Luís Cruz Guerreiro para fazer uma exposição individual na Capela da Misericórdia, que esteve patente de 22 a 30 de Abril de 2005 e que mostra essas duas vertentes da AAG, o nome da exposição foi, “Modernos e Clássicos da Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro”

2006-Luís Cruz Guerreiro, voltou a expor em Brasília, no Museu de Arte de Brasília, com as suas BDs em Azulejos; "Aventuras de Jerílio no séc 25" 1º episódio, BD/HQ em Azulejos, Agosto de 2006 e em Pirenópolis com duas obras de grandes dimensões (4m x 2.75m) em Azulejo e Pintura a óleo de Delei.

2011-Participação na 5ª Bienal de Pintura de Pequeno Formato de Alhos Vedros, com um trabalho em azulejo manufaturado, com pintura sobre vidrado cru, colorida.
O tema é uma derivação das Cidades Flutuantes, feito em 1998. Neste caso a Cidade Flutuante é Alhos Vedros com os seus monumentos mais emblemáticos, como o Pelourinho, a Igreja Matriz, os antigos Paços do Concelho, etc.

Curriculum of Luís Cruz Guerreiro
Luís Cruz Guerreiro started with the Comic Strip. The taste for 9th Art led him to try to create his own stories; the project did not live up to his expectations, although it is not completely abandoned.
His first BDs, HQs, from “PutoZé”,
comic-tragic character inspired by Zé Mocho, a boy who lived miserably in Alhos Vedros and who unfortunately already died, came to be exposed and even won an honorable mention at the Comic Book Festival in Amora in 1984.
In 1985 he took a course in ceramic painting at CENCAL (Caldas da Rainha)
The various painting techniques learned at this Training Center, served as a link between the art he practiced, (BD) and ceramics (the art of fire). The tiles were the technical support that made the connection between the two arts.
After finishing the course, he was selected to work in a ceramic factory in Caldas da Rainha, but due to constant problems in the payment of wages, he moved to “Argila Atelier”.
He presented the first two panels that I made on weekends and free hours at the factory - Regions of Portugal - and at the end of 86 I joined the Argila Atelier, where, for two years, I painted several tile panels, of which we highlight The Four Stations, in addition to having participated in several exhibitions, of which we highlight the Thematic Exhibition on the Alto Minho, at the Bienal de Artes / 87, in Vila Nova de Cerveira (Portugal). Still in Caldas da Rainha, Luís took advantage of the 1988 summer vacation to make a set of panels whose theme was the Municipality of Moita and in September 1989 he held his first individual exhibition at the Moita Tourist Office, which at the time was a success, since it sold almost all the panels and got an order that lasted until 2004, with Tertúlia Tauromáquica Setubalense.
Having the luck to find a suitable space for his type of work, he started a business on his own in Alhos Vedros, his homeland.
In early 89, he founded the Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro; participated in handicraft fairs all over Portugal, in 1994 created two distinct lines of tiles:
- The Classic Line (in blue and white and polychrome, with traditional motifs); it is by definition the great reason for existence of AAG and its only source of income, says the Azulejista that, until now the acceptance of innovation in Azulejo still has a long way to go, but it is certain that with new clients of younger generations orders for “Modern” panels will also become profitable, as the country's economic condition evolves.
Since its foundation until today, Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro has produced hundreds of panels in all formats, in blue and white and polychrome, spread throughout Europe, the United States and Brazil.
- The Free Line (which expresses other techniques and gives me all the freedom of creation within the tiles), it is in this line that it returned to its origins, creating a science fiction story in colored tile panels “The Adventures of Jerílio no century. 25 ”, which are the synthesis of these two Arts that come together to create a new artistic expression combining the technical knowledge of Artistic Tiles, with their oxide glazes and dyes made especially by Luís Cruz Guerreiro to achieve the brightest colors and the narrative BD, with its plans, frameworks and texts.
In 2005, Alhos Vedros, through the Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro, managed to finally enter the Routes of Ceramics. This project lasted from 2003 to 2015 and intended to create a National Route of Ceramics Factories and Workshops in Portugal, in which Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro was present.
This was a Cultural Tourism project, which had international dissemination and which made excursions of tourists, dedicated to a tourism of knowledge about the Ceramic Arts of all types, be invited to visit the Workshops, Ateliers, Factories and Museums that are related with the Arts of Fire throughout the country.
The Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro was integrated in this project due to the quality of its work and also due to the respect it has for the techniques of Traditional Portuguese Tile.
Only high quality workshops and factories are included in this project, as is the case of Porcelanas Vista Alegre, or the Bordallo Pinheiro Artistic Faience for example. It ended without glare, but it is an idea that should be taken up again.
The Guerreiro Artistic Tiling Workshop was recognized on February 24, 2006, by PPART, Program for the Promotion of Crafts and Microenterprises, which in 2015 ended and was replaced by CEARTE, which continued to give Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro the status of Artisanal Productive Unit: https://www.cearte.pt/custompage/gpaoregisto.html
The Craftsman, Luís Cruz Guerreiro, was also recognized by PPART, receiving the Craftsman card, by this state agency.

1997-Moita City Council offered a collection of 6 mini tiles with images of the 6 parishes that existed in the municipality to some communities in the municipality and to the President of the Republic of Portugal at the time, Jorge Sampaio.

Eng. Brito Apolónia supported this project and we did everything to make it a success, which it was.
One of the great personal friends and of AAG, it was since the beginning of the newspaper RIO in 1997 it was this gentleman, to whom I am very grateful for everything and who in the most difficult phase of AAG, helped her and made her survive.
It was from its edition # 10 that it began to publish the stickers "Imagens do Concelho da Moita" on the last page to cut and collect, this collection lasted 24 editions.
The newspaper "O RIO" published between April 15, 1998 and May 1, 1999, a collection of 24 stickers.

2000-In August, he held his first Exhibition in Brasília, in which he presented only Azulejaria from the “Livre” Line and had a great welcome from visitors and also from the critics of Jornais de Brasília such as “Correio Braziliense” and “Jornal de Brasília”
2001-Inauguration of the Guerreiro Archives.
With the support of my parents, Júlia Maria da Cruz and Francisco Guerreiro and my wife Tina Sesinando and collaboration with the newspaper O RIO, which published one-page news and free advertising, the Guerreiro Archives opened on January 12, 2001.
Engº Brito Apolónia has always collaborated with AAG's projects and supported a lot the opening of an Art gallery in Alhos Vedros.
This gallery lasted until 2006, when it became just an AAG tile show. In 2014, it was necessary to physically change the Oficina, from nº 6, to nº4, where the Guerreiro Archives were. It was a time-consuming and expensive process, which was not fully completed until the end of 2015.
Now that's the Workshop, which is very beautiful. The Workshop became much more pleasant to work and receive customers.
Quality will remain unchanged and AAG will continue to do manual painting only.
2005-The President of the Parish Council of Alhos Vedros, Fernanda Gaspar invited Luís Cruz Guerreiro to make a solo exhibition at Capela da Misericórdia, which was on display from 22 to 30 April 2005 and which shows these two aspects of AAG, the name of the exhibition was, “Moderns and Classics of Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro”

Luís Cruz Guerreiro
Luís Cruz Guerreiro started with the Comic Strip. The taste for 9th Art led him to try to create his own stories; the project did not live up to his expectations, although it is not completely abandoned.
His first BDs, HQs, from “PutoZé”,
comic-tragic character inspired by Zé Mocho, a boy who lived miserably in Alhos Vedros and who unfortunately already died, came to be exposed and even won an honorable mention at the Comic Book Festival in Amora in 1984.
In 1985 he took a course in ceramic painting at CENCAL (Caldas da Rainha)
The various painting techniques learned at this Training Center, served as a link between the art he practiced, (BD) and ceramics (the art of fire). The tiles were the technical support that made the connection between the two arts.
After finishing the course, he was selected to work in a ceramic factory in Caldas da Rainha, but due to constant problems in the payment of wages, he moved to “Argila Atelier”.
He presented the first two panels that I made on weekends and free hours at the factory - Regions of Portugal - and at the end of 86 I joined the Argila Atelier, where, for two years, I painted several tile panels, of which we highlight The Four Stations, in addition to having participated in several exhibitions, of which we highlight the Thematic Exhibition on the Alto Minho, at the Bienal de Artes / 87, in Vila Nova de Cerveira (Portugal). Still in Caldas da Rainha, Luís took advantage of the 1988 summer vacation to make a set of panels whose theme was the Municipality of Moita and in September 1989 he held his first individual exhibition at the Moita Tourist Office, which at the time was a success, since it sold almost all the panels and got an order that lasted until 2004, with Tertúlia Tauromáquica Setubalense.
Having the luck to find a suitable space for his type of work, he started a business on his own in Alhos Vedros, his homeland.
In early 89, he founded the Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro; participated in handicraft fairs all over Portugal, in 1994 created two distinct lines of tiles:
- The Classic Line (in blue and white and polychrome, with traditional motifs); it is by definition the great reason for existence of AAG and its only source of income, says the Azulejista that, until now the acceptance of innovation in Azulejo still has a long way to go, but it is certain that with new clients of younger generations orders for “Modern” panels will also become profitable, as the country's economic condition evolves.
Since its foundation until today, Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro has produced hundreds of panels in all formats, in blue and white and polychrome, spread throughout Europe, the United States and Brazil.
- The Free Line (which expresses other techniques and gives me all the freedom of creation within the tiles), it is in this line that it returned to its origins, creating a science fiction story in colored tile panels “The Adventures of Jerílio no century. 25 ”, which are the synthesis of these two Arts that come together to create a new artistic expression combining the technical knowledge of Artistic Tiles, with their oxide glazes and dyes made especially by Luís Cruz Guerreiro to achieve the brightest colors and the narrative BD, with its plans, frameworks and texts.
In 2005, Alhos Vedros, through the Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro, managed to finally enter the Routes of Ceramics. This project lasted from 2003 to 2015 and intended to create a National Route of Ceramics Factories and Workshops in Portugal, in which Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro was present.
This was a Cultural Tourism project, which had international dissemination and which made excursions of tourists, dedicated to a tourism of knowledge about the Ceramic Arts of all types, be invited to visit the Workshops, Ateliers, Factories and Museums that are related with the Arts of Fire throughout the country.
The Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro was integrated in this project due to the quality of its work and also due to the respect it has for the techniques of Traditional Portuguese Tile.
Only high quality workshops and factories are included in this project, as is the case of Porcelanas Vista Alegre, or the Bordallo Pinheiro Artistic Faience for example. It ended without glare, but it is an idea that should be taken up again.
The Guerreiro Artistic Tiling Workshop was recognized on February 24, 2006, by PPART, Program for the Promotion of Crafts and Microenterprises, which in 2015 ended and was replaced by CEARTE, which continued to give Azulejaria Artística Guerreiro the status of Artisanal Productive Unit: https://www.cearte.pt/custompage/gpaoregisto.html
